Temporary Pause of the 2nd Basket of Love Clothing Collection

We regret to announce that the second clothing collection basket of the Baskets of Love program - an action integrated into the AthlitAct program - is temporarily out of "operation".

The reason is simple but disappointing: the basket was stolen. You heard right... The box that we had designed to become a "hub" of solidarity and kindness, was stolen...

The Baskets of Love project was started with one purpose: to facilitate the continuous collection of clothing to support the Rethymno Regional Branch of the Hellenic Red Cross and, through it, people in real need. Unfortunately, certain actions undermine this effort. The loss of the basket is not just a loss of equipment. It is an obstacle to an action based on solidarity, cooperation and giving to our fellow humans.

Nevertheless, we are not going to stop. We are already working to restore the collection point and expect it to be operational again in the summer. Until then, the first basket continues to operate normally and accepts clothing donations. Despite the small imperfections caused by the irresponsibility of some.

This incident reminds us that social contribution needs information and education. When sports clubs inform their members, athletes, parents and visitors about the importance of such initiatives, a culture of respect, participation and protection of joint actions is created. For this reason, we extend an open call to all sports clubs in Rethymno to adopt the AthlitAct program and actively participate in its social and environmental actions. Only together can we create a sports community that is not limited only to performance on the field, but also contributes substantially to society.

Despite the difficulties, we remain optimistic. Because every basket can be stolen. But the willingness to help... NEVER.
