WE ARE BACK! (5/12/2025)
Save Our Planet–International(SOPI ) is pleased to announce its official return.
After a long pause (2 years) our team took in order to readjust and organize even better, we are now fully ready for the challenges ahead! We would like to reintroduce ourselves as SOPI’s team for those who don’t know us yet. We are a group of passionate people united by hopes and dreams. We believe in the power of youth and unity in changing lives. SOPI has given us the opportunity to volunteer and create real impact.

Our mission:
SOPI has a simple and straightforward aim: make our planet better for all of us. This goal is reflected in the name of our team. We focus on humanitarian, social, and environmental issues, stand in solidarity with vulnerable individuals and communities, and respond proactively to both global and local crises.
We work through education, awareness, direct action, and empowerment. Our efforts take place both online and on the ground by participating in and conducting events. We are driven by what we have seen—humanity has been facing numerous crises in recent years, all of which severely impact our well-being and fundamental rights.
Our History:
Save Our Planet International was founded in 2020. Our founder and current Executive Director, Thanos Sialgkanidis, was only 13 years old, yet he was not discouraged from starting.

The group worked for 3 years, until 2023. During this period, we organized and executed 12 clean-up events—10 in Rethymno, 1 in Ierapetra, and an additional clean-up event in Australia. We also did a lot of work in raising public awareness and spreading educational messages across the world through social media channels and blog.
Unfortunately, SOPI’s progress was paused from 2023 to 2025. Our re-launch was in mid-2025. We gathered our international team and began working again. Frankly speaking, there were many issues that needed to be fixed because we wanted the best structure and function for our group—to give our best to the world. So we took a moment to readjust.

Where are we?
SOPI is based in Greece, but we operate worldwide through a group of trained volunteers from different countries, ages, religions, and beliefs.
We may differ in many things, but we use these differences as strength—to expand our potential and work toward a common goal: leaving a lighter footprint.

Once you join SOPI and complete our basic training course, you can choose to be part of one of our circles - sub-groups that help us organise volunteers based in skills and interests. This way everyone can help at most based on their interested, availability and skills.
